Live Art Sector Research Survey
Hello.
This survey forms a key part of the first major research project examining the histories and futures of the UK Live Art Sector, commissioned by the Live Art Development Agency, in partnership with the Live Art UK network and funded by Arts Council England. You can read more about the project here.
Who the survey is for? We invite everyone involved with making, producing, disseminating, funding, researching, attending and thinking about Live Art in the UK to fill in this survey (including people who live outside the UK who have a relationship to the UK Live Art sector).
Why is the survey needed? This survey is an important element of our research. We aim to gather details and experiences of those working in Live Art so we can map its conditions, contexts and its impact on the arts sector and beyond.
What will the survey be used for? Key findings will be published in our research report, publicly available in Autumn 2020.
About the survey This survey will take about 20 mins to complete and is made up of 45questions.
The survey contains four sections: Your relationship to Live Art as a category of practice and sector; your experience of Live Art networks, platforms and support systems; your relationship to funding; and some personal details.
A note on survey questions: At times response options available might seem counterintuitive. For example, you might be given a scale rather than yes/no option. The reason for this is tied to analysis - it helps us connect different details across the survey - and helps make our research findings stronger and easier to communicate. So please stick with us!
We are sensitive to the problematic nature of categorisation at the basis of a survey like this, in particular, systems of self-identification. These will be noted and clarified as you go through the survey.
Data Protection All data will be anonymised and held in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation and the Data Protection Act. Data will be held for one year and thereafter permanently deleted.
The survey is anonymous, in that you will not be asked to state your name.
Only the core project team of five people has access to the data. We will treat the data gathered confidentially. Data will not be shared with any third parties. Access to data during the research period will be controlled by password protection.
Alternative formats and further questions: Please get in touch with us if you require the survey questions in an alternative format or would like to submit your answers in an alternative format.
For any questions about the survey, please contact: liveartsurvey@gmail.com
Your participation Thank you in advance for giving your time and energy to take part in this survey. Your participation is incredibly important and valuable and we appreciate it.
All the best from the research collective Elyssa Livergant, Cecilia Wee, Tarek Virani, Johanna Linsley and Tim Jeeves
The first section of this survey is about you, how you work with and engage with Live Art
