Family Input Survey

There are five hundred and eighty-five students at Lincoln. Each is a unique individual. And all have much in common. Every student is a cherished member of our school community. All share the right to a safe, stimulating, inclusive, and joyful environment in which to learn and grow.

Each student has a sense of identity, and at Lincoln we want to make sure that each and every student feels included, respected, and valued. We also want our students to have the knowledge and skills they’ll need to understand people from different walks of life and to treat everyone compassionately and fairly.

This spring we will engage our entire community in exploring and developing the best ways to make sure that our wonderfully diverse school is also unified when it comes to everyone feeling equally included, respected, and valued.

We are calling this project Lincoln Listen-Lincoln Learns-Lincoln Leads. The project’s name combines the three phases of our efforts. We begin with listening. We are inviting and encouraging teachers and families to share their views on important issues related to creating and maintaining an inclusive and respectful community. We hope you will provide your thoughts by completing this brief survey. The survey is anonymous so that you can feel free to be completely honest in your remarks. The input we receive will tell us what’s most important to members of our community.

By listening closely to what you have to say, we’ll gain a good sense of what we need to learn to achieve our inclusivity goals. The learning phase will include programs for teachers, families, and students that help us all develop common understanding and useful skills.

After gaining the wisdom of the community through listening, and learning crucial knowledge and skills, we’ll enter phase three of the project. Lincoln Leads will be about living out our intention to be an inclusive and respectful community in how and what we teach in the classroom, how children interact with one another, equipping families to support what students are experiencing at school and in the world, forums, celebrations, and things we can’t yet imagine! We’re eager to begin. We hope to hear from you soon!
