Like all cities receiving federal funds through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Lincoln is required to conduct a self-analysis of fair housing choices in the community -- an Analysis of Impediments to Fair Housing Choice (or AI). The objective of the AI is to identify impediments, analyze them, and describe ways to overcome them. In this context, an impediment can be an action or inaction that restricts housing choice.
The AI also serves as the basis for fair housing planning. In Lincoln’s continued commitment to being a model fair housing community, the AI is a resource available to policy makers, City staff, housing providers, fair housing advocates, and others.
The AI has little meaning without community input. City staff have facilitated focus groups and appeared on local community radio to discuss fair housing. With your help, this survey will provide additional information based on your personal experiences and observations.
