2018-2019 Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA Board Election

Please vote on our incoming Board below.  These individuals will join Past President Robert Sunukjian for the 2018-2019 year.

Question Title

* 1. President:
Cristine Karasek CFM, SFP

Cris recently retired as Director of Facility Services for Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI) where she worked for 20 years. She has a degree in interior design, is a licensed real estate broker, and has both her CFM and SFP through IFMA.

Cris has been a member of IFMA since 1992, and has most recently served as Secretary and Vice President for the Greater Triangle Chapter of IFMA. She has also worked on many projects with IFMA national, including the committee that recently updated the CFM test and currently serves on SFP scheme committee.

Justin Barber
Property Manager
Highwoods Properties

Justin Barber, a Property Manager for Highwoods Properties, headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a publicly traded (NYSE:HIW) real estate investment trust ("REIT") and a member of the S&P MidCap 400 Index. Justin is responsible for the overall operation and financial successes of his assigned portfolio of commercial office buildings. He represents Highwoods Properties in a professional manner to customers, vendors and the general public.

He started with Highwoods on April 18, 2011 as a Senior Maintenance Technician. Nine months later he quickly transitioned into the role of property management. Prior to that, he worked as Facilities Manager for Dewitt Real Estate Services for eleven and a half years.

Justin joined IFMA in 2013 as a Professional member and hit the ground running. He is the current 2017-2018 Treasurer; bringing his passion to learn and giving back to the community and chapter.  Since attending the Mega Networking Event at Charlie Goodnight’s in January 2013, Justin has served on numerous committees and worked on several projects for the GTC of IFMA.  His efforts helped obtain a record number of sponsorships and his dedication and involvement to the chapter earned him the distinguished honor of 2015 Professional Member of the Year.

Justin’s quick rise within Highwoods Properties and IFMA comes as no surprise to anyone who has spent time with him.  Justin is married with 2 children, likes to travel, play golf, and spend time with his family.

Amanda Frendberg
Business Development Manager
Carolina Restoration Services

Amanda Frendberg is a Business Development Manager for Carolina Restoration Services, a market leader in the disaster recovery and restoration industry located in Morrisville, NC. Amanda started with Carolina Restoration Services in 2014, but has been in the restoration industry since 2011. She has worked in several different markets prior to moving to the Triangle area in 2014. At Carolina Restoration Services, she carries out many duties including account management, relationship management, customer service management, media advertising, digital marketing strategy planning, creative development, community outreach programs, and overall quality assurance management. She currently has an Associate’s Degree in Business Management, but plans to pursue an MBA with focus in Marketing very soon. She is currently working on a Marketing Strategy Certificate program through Cornell University, which she will complete in August.

Amanda joined IFMA in 2014, shortly after moving to the area and quickly got involved in the GTC Chapter’s Community Outreach Committee. She’s co-chaired both the Community Outreach Committee and the Membership Committee over the past couple of years. She headed up the Silent Auction held by the Chapter in 2016, which raised funds for the IFMA Foundation. She attended World Conferences in 2016 and 2017. She then received the Associate Member of the Year Award at the Chapter Appreciation in November 2016. She actively supports the Chapter by always volunteering to help wherever she’s needed. She has served as Chapter Secretary for the past year.

Amanda currently lives in Raleigh with her three year old son Jackson who is the light of her life. In her free time, she enjoys any outdoor activity and spending time with friends and family, preferably somewhere near a body of water. She also enjoys sporting events and concerts. She is originally from West Virginia, but considers Raleigh her home now.

Haley has been a member of the Greater Triangle Chapter for 4 years, where she served as a member of the Communication Committee for 6 months and has been a Chair of the Membership Committee for 2 years. She has valued the opportunity to connect with Chapter members through her committee work, and looks forward to continuing to improve the member experience.
