Agricultural Water BMP Adoption Project |
We are excited to start this unique project that allows us to better serve the grower community through providing irrigation evaluations, technical assistance, and educational resources. In addition to the technical aspect of this project, we will also aim to describe and understand how professional growers make some of the most important decisions on the farm. We expect, over the course of this project and beyond, to gain a never before seen picture of the complex world of competing interests growers face and how they prioritize between many things, all of which are important.
This project investigates how growers make decisions about adopting agricultural water use best management practices. If you are selected for the project, Vineyard Team will perform a Distribution Uniformity (DU) Evaluation on one block in your vineyard.
Results will be presented in person from a report containing recommendations for improving the efficiency of the system.
At this time, you will be interviewed about your irrigation system and strategies to get a picture of your water management practices.
Also at this time, you will complete a questionnaire that describes some of your beliefs, attitudes, and values.
Growers will be assigned to two groups.

Growers will be assigned to two groups.
One group will be contacted intermittently throughout the project and is expected to complete the same questionnaire at the end of the project.
Growers in the other group will be contacted for regular, brief check-ins throughout the project and are expected to complete the same questionnaire at the end of the project.
At the end of two years a sample of growers from each group will be selected to have a follow-up DU evaluation performed by Vineyard Team.
