Waternish Community Survey 2026

Introduction

Welcome to the Waternish Community Survey

Why we want to hear from you:-
Your views and comments really do matter - they will help us understand everyday life in Waternish—including what you value and the unique challenges our area faces.

What we will do with the community engagement results:-
  • The survey will close at 5pm Sunday 25th October
  • Survey responses will be collated by Skye & Lochalsh CVO who will compile an interim report that summarises the key findings.
  • The report will be shared with the community and in 2027, Waternish Hall committee members will work with Waternish Community Council on responses to the key findings, with support from Skye & Lochalsh CVO.
The results from this survey will give Waternish Community the evidence required to highlight community priorities, advocate for local resources, secure funding, and to lobby for critical improvements.

Not all solutions to the community’s needs will fall within the remit of volunteer-led community groups. Some solutions may require community initiatives - others will be public sector responsibility or even suggest a private sector business idea.

Survey Details:-
  • To ensure strategic alignment we have divided the survey into sections based on the Skye & Raasay Future Plan key themes including housing, transport, health and social care, and community response to climate action.
  • The 11 sections should take approximately 35 minutes to complete. We appreciate that this seems a lot but most questions are simple and multiple choice.
  • We would like to hear from everyone and ask that every member of your household completes the survey. Individual responses really do matter.
  • Please try and answer as many questions as you can and add your comments too - YOUR views are hugely important to enable us to build an accurate, fair and inclusive picture of community needs and priorities.
  • Some questions are mandatory to ensure we have baseline data. If you don't wish to answer these questions you will need to choose the 'prefer not to say' option (or similar) to proceed.
  • The survey will remain open if you wish to take a break and come back to it but once you have completed the survey and clicked DONE you will not be able to make changes.
We appreciate your time - everything you tell us will add to the bigger picture and help the local community going forward. Thank you.

CLOSING DATE: Please submit your responses by Sunday 25th October 5pm.

Your Privacy is Protected:-
  • All responses and comments are kept confidential and anonymous. Data from voluntary demographic or diversity questions will only be reported at a high, combined level so no individual can be identified.
  • If you choose to leave your name and email at the end of the survey your contact details will be stored entirely separately from your survey answers.
