What is The Man Cave Niteclub LLC?
Located at 3201 E. Dunes Highway Gary,IN 46402 (in the former Pandora’s Box Strip Club), The Man Cave Niteclub LLC faces Emerson’s westward gateway and Aetna, Glen Ryan and Miller’s eastward gateways.
As described by the owners at the September 7, 2016 Miller Business Association Meeting:
The Man Cave Niteclub LLC will be similar to an Asian style hostess bar. Workers will be provocatively clothed, but not nude. They will be paid to dance and drink with patrons. Patrons will pay for the dances and drinks. There will be no cover. We will seat 59. We do not have a restaurant capacity kitchen. We plan to have a food truck serve food there. We do not have a permit for this food truck. We will not do any upgrades to the exterior. We will open at 7am and go as late as we can. We will have at least a two-way liquor license. No we do not have the two-way liquor license yet. We were turned down this morning due to community concern. We will reapply on October 4th. We chose this location because it is by the highway and the mills. No we did not research the surrounding communities, before we invested in this location. Yes we sued the city because they stated we needed a permit because they think we are a sexually oriented business. We won our suit.
Community Background:
Over the past 20 years there has been a community-wide effort to deter prostitution/ human trafficking and adhere to code enforcement within adult entertainment venues in the 46402 and 46403 zip codes. This has led our area to go from having many adult entertainment venues to just three and one adult store. Though hostess bar employees may not be nude, many have become prostitutes in other communities. Currently, the United Methodist Women, Gary’s Rotary Club and Sacred Transformations (all located within The Man Cave Niteclub LLC’s footprint) have initiatives helping to stop human trafficking. In 2015, members of the volunteer run-Gary’s Miller Spotlight Project gathered 4,013 comments about Gary’s Miller neighborhood from vested community members. By analyzing these conversations, we were able to form 7 action groups. The 76 action group volunteers reviewed the facts surrounding our community members’ statements. By sourcing our information directly from the public, and then reviewing the validity of the SWOT data, we have been able to identify which grants, form partnerships and initiate programs that suit the needs of our community and all its residents. This survey and then review process help our volunteers determine how we as a community can plan to take action towards continuing to revitalize our neighborhood. We were able to create 29 attainable goals and our community vision for 2025. We are spending the next 10 years attempting to implement this vision and accomplishing our goals. (Downtown-Emerson is in the process of creating a vision and community plan currently) :
