2019/2020 Hampton Nipper Registration Form Welcome to the HLSC Nipper Program Thank you for your interest in Hampton Life Saving Club and our Nipper program. The Nipper ProgramOur program teaches children ages 5 through to 14 valuable skills relating to safety and confidence in the water, as well as important beach management and life saving skills. At the same time, these younger members build fitness and have an enormous amount of fun on the sand and in the water. As your Nipper progresses through the program, they will receive various surf awareness and competence awards, culminating in the Surf Rescue Certificate at age 13. Our teenage members then go on to patrol, with the opportunity to be involved in a number of sporting, leadership and lifesaving training opportunities. Our members learn the importance of taking care of others, developing a great sense of community from an early age.Junior Leaders ProgramUpon reaching the Under-13 and Under-14 groups, the Nippers program transitions into the Junior Leaders program, where youths extend their leadership and lifesaving skills. The program is a combination of fun, fitness and varied lifesaving skills and challenges, including IRB (inflatable rescue boat) familiarisation, surf ski training, roving patrols and rescue scenarios. Our Junior Leaders also have the opportunity to work alongside our Teen Coaches during some Nipper sessions and, once they move into Under 15s, have the opportunity to earn a formal coaching accreditation. Mandatory Working With Children Check (WWCC) For ParentsIf you do not already have a Working With Children Check (WWCC), you will need to obtain one. Every member over age 18 or older is required by Australian law to have a valid Working with Children Check, with Life Saving Victoria (LSV) and Hampton Life Saving Club (HLSC) listed as associated organisations. If you do not complete the WWCC process, your family will be unable to participate in ANY club activities. To obtain a WWCC card or add us to your MyCheck account, click here. Many Hands Make Light Work: Family ExpectationsHLSC is run entirely by volunteers and the Nippers program cannot run without parent helpers. We are always keen for new parents to be involved. You need to stay on the beach during Nippers anyway, so why not have some fun with your children at the same time? Parents can help out as age group managers, parent helpers, water safety and various other support activities. Please indicate in the form below how you could help out.Register for Nippers By Filling in the Following FormIn order to apply for a place in the Nippers Program, YOUR FAMILY MUST BE PAID MEMBERS OF HAMPTON LIFE SAVING CLUB, via Surf Life Saving Australia.
