Survey on Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs)
Copy of page: Mind Call for Evidence
Have you experience of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLs) system?
Mind is preparing independent evidence about the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards under the Mental Capacity Act 2005. This is for two appeal cases before the Supreme Court of England and Wales in the autumn. The Court will be considering what ‘deprivation of liberty’ means in social care settings.
We are looking at how the system works and how it could be improved. We want to hear from people who have experienced the DoLs system. You may be:
• someone who is or has been under a DoL • the carer of someone under a DoL • the family member of someone under a DoL • an advocate working with people who lack capacity • a health and social care professional.
All the responses we receive will feed into the evidence that Mind provides to the Supreme Court.
Thank you for taking the time to complete this survey.
