SEAOI Survey Regarding the Chicago Building Code

The City of Chicago Department of Building (DOB) is planning to evaluate IBC 2024 as the basis for the next edition of the Chicago Building Code (CBC).

CBC 2019 was the first IBC based building code in Chicago. The DOB is interested in practitioner input on how the 2019 code has performed, and proposed changes to the next edition. The SEAOI Building Code Committee has created this survey to compile your feedback. Please share your opinions by completing this survey by February 28, 2025.

Your responses to the survey will be shared with the DOB and will be anonymous.

Prior to adoption, the current code will undergo a review process by the DOB and Working Groups, including a consideration of survey results received.
