Leadership for Social Change Application

Thank you for your interest in applying for the Leadership for Social Change program! We are looking forward to learning more about you and assessing your fit for this exciting opportunity! The application is broken into three parts:

1. Personal Information
2. Essays
3. Supplemental Materials

Our three required essays are as follows:

- Essay #1: What do you know about the mission of the YWCA, and why is it important in today’s society? (250 words)

- Essay #2: When you think about your own view of social justice leadership, what more do you wish to know, to be, or be able to do to prepare for your future? (250 words)

- Essay #3: This program requires each participant to “show up and be engaged” in their development. What social justice initiatives/causes are you passionate about, involved in, and/or hope to be involved in and why is this the right time for you to commit to a 10-month learning experience? (500 word)

In addition to your personal information and essays, you will be prompted to attach the following documents:

1. Letter of Recommendation: One (1) letter of reference must be included in your application packet. Letters of reference should be written by non-family members; examples include, but are not limited to: employer, mentor, spiritual leader, community service organization, or teacher.

The person writing your letter of reference should address the following questions in their letter:

- Why is the applicant the ideal candidate for this opportunity?
- In your opinion, what strengths will the applicant bring to the program?
- Ideally, what would you like your applicant to learn by participating in the program?
