Saturday, April 11, 10:30 AM, Dumfries Library, Lawyers in the Library - COMMUNITY PARTICIPANT REGISTRATION FORM

The Prince William County Bar Association’s Pro Bono Committee (“Bar”) and Prince William Public Libraries (“PWPL”) are proud to announce our new initiative called Lawyers in the Library. Volunteer members of the Bar will offer free legal consultations to the public, meeting the people where they are: their favorite libraries. Lawyers will meet with individuals who have pre-registered and signed a waiver confirming that the consultations will answer questions and provide legal information and guidance without creating an ongoing lawyer-client relationship. Each session will be no more than twenty minutes.

The Bar/PWPL intake team will review each registration and send an email or text message to confirm your appointment. If your appointment is confirmed, be sure to organize and bring all related documents, forms, and court papers to your consultation. Come prepared with your questions written down; the twenty-minute time limit will be strictly enforced.

This program is for individuals who are not already represented by counsel.
1.By answering "Yes" to this question and submitting this Lawyers in the Library Community Participant Registration Form, you acknowledge and confirm that you have read this Disclosure and Waiver or have had it read to you. You further acknowledge and confirm that you release and hold harmless Prince William County Bar Association and Prince William Public Libraries from any claim, liability, or damages arising out of or in connection with receiving information or assistance under this program.

The volunteer attorney assigned to you will provide brief legal information and guidance during your consultation. Your appointment will not create an ongoing attorney-client relationship unless you and that attorney agree otherwise in writing. Your assigned attorney will not complete forms for you, file documents, appear at legal proceedings, or take any action other than giving information and advice at the time of your library visit.

Communications between you and your assigned attorney will be treated as confidential.

Neither Prince William County Bar Association nor Prince William Public Libraries assumes responsibility for 1) the content or accuracy of any legal information or advice you may receive during your consultation, or 2) the outcome of your case or matter.
