Māpua-Ruby Bay Community Emergency Preparedness Survey

2.Thank you for taking the time to support our Community

Nelson Tasman Emergency Management (NTEM), more commonly known as Civil Defense (CD) wants each community to have an Emergency Preparedness Plan.
With the severe weather of the past month fresh in our minds, now is a good time to take stock of how well prepared we are for similar events impacting the Mapua-Ruby Bay community
The purpose of NTEM (and the local Māpua-Ruby Bay Emergency Preparedness Team) is to:
- Support individuals and communities to take ownership of their own emergency preparedness.
- Help communities to understand their hazards and increase resilience.
- Promote problem solving and self-sufficiency through strong social networks and a culture of mutual help.
- Reduce reliance on first responder agencies during an emergency.
In a major event emergency services may not be able to reach or even communicate with some communities for several days. Individuals and communities must therefore be able to care for themselves and each other as much as possible when normal daily life is disrupted.

The aim of this brief survey (which should take only 5mins to complete) is to assess the capabilities and resources within our community to support ourselves/neighbors during the immediate aftermath of a natural disaster.

Your information will be kept in strictest confidence by the Community Emergency Preparedness Team and NTEM.

Please feel free to share this Survey Link with your neighbourhood network - the more residents that complete the Survey the better!
