Join the CHAMPS Advisory Committee!

Sacramento City Unified School District, United Latinos, and Civic Thread are seeking passionate Community-Based Organizations, School Champions, and all-star parents, guardians, caregivers, and school staff who are ready to make a difference in their community. Selected members will serve on the Community Health & Active Mobility Partners of Sacramento (CHAMPS) Advisory Committee, helping to shape the Safe Routes to School for All Project.

As a CHAMPS member, you will:
  • Attend and actively participate in scheduled meetings (up to 12 total, bi-monthly).
  • Review and provide feedback on draft plans, outreach tools, and engagement activities.
  • Provide insight into community priorities, transportation barriers, and cultural context.
  • Advise on outreach methods, event design, and communication strategies to ensure cultural responsiveness.
  • Promote project activities within your networks and foster connections with underserved and underrepresented populations to support inclusive engagement.
  • Collaborate respectfully with fellow members, project partners, and staff.
  • Act in an advisory capacity; United Latinos, Civic Thread, and SCUSD staff will carry out implementation.
  • Be compensated with a $100 e-gift card for every meeting you attend and for your thought participation as a part of CHAMPS.
