ACPHS "ACPE Self-Study" Alumni Feedback Webinars

Dear ACPHS Alumni,

As many of you know, ACPE is the accrediting body for all schools of pharmacy. They require a written self-study report and on-site visit every 5-7 years. Our last visit was in 2011, and our next visit is quickly approaching in October of 2016. As part of the self-study process, we want to ensure that all stakeholders are involved and have a chance to comment on our report.

In 2016, ACPE released new standards for the Doctor of Pharmacy program. There are 25 standards; 8 on didactic and experiential curriculum, 15 on organizational structure, student support and resources, and 2 on assessment of the curriculum and program. Noticeable differences from the prior standards include new education standards, an emphasis on outcomes data, interprofessional education, personal and professional development and co-curricular initiatives.

A steering committee of faculty and administrators was appointed to lead the self-study process last spring. The committee has coordinated the evaluation of data and a systematic process for writing the report. Teams of 2-3 faculty and/or staff were asked to evaluate available data on each standard and write a short narrative addressing key points and general compliance. The narratives have been through several iterations and have incorporated feedback from students, faculty and administrators.

To ensure our self-study is inclusive of all stakeholder perspectives, we would like to invite you to review and provide feedback on relevant standards. These include:

We will be holding several webinars through Skype in the coming weeks. The webinars will include a short presentation on the relevant standards. We will collect your questions and comments through a survey after the webinar. The Steering Committee will use these comments to ensure the alumni perspective is represented in our report.
