Introduction and Purpose

The City is proposing to rezone and develop the parcel of land containing the Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Affairs office complex and support buildings. The parcel is 9.5 acres in size and bounded by Myers Park Drive, Van Buren Street, the electric substation, and the railroad tracks.  The proposal entails rezoning from RP-2 (0 to 6 dwellings/acre) to CU-12 (4 to 12 dwellings/acre and allowing commercial uses).  The proposal also envisions using a row of two- or three-story town homes to act as a noise barrier in place of the proposed noise mitigation wall.

There are several possibilities/opportunities associated with the City proposal.  The purpose of the survey is to determine the will of the affected neighborhoods (Myers Park and Woodland Drives) regarding the range of possibilities/opportunities.

For additional background information on the rezoning and development proposal, the development concept map and the entire City proposal, rationale, and plan, please go to the Myers Park Neighborhood Association web page at http://myersparkna.org/topics/survey-background/
