Welcome to the proposed new look for Taylor Oval. Our proposed masterplan brings together a diverse mix of sporting facilities, reimagined green spaces and public amenities that meet the needs of the community, laying the groundwork for a connected, inclusive and people-focused new sporting precinct within the heart of Moree.

The Taylor Oval Masterplan will include:

Inclusive community sporting facilities – including:
  • a new aquatic centre, featuring a heated 50m 8-lane pool (complete with a split boom to section the pool), children’s leisure pool and splash pad, heated indoor learn-to-swim pool, water slide, grandstand and shade roof, race marshalling area, learn to swim parents’ courtyard, change areas with lockers and toilets, clubhouse and administration areas
  • an indoor Sports Centre with multi-purpose courts
  • new public car parks
  • Improved open green spaces – the Masterplan has been designed to retain existing trees and keep a large portion of the site as open parkland and community space.

The Taylor Oval Masterplan is a big project and a clear commitment by Council to the people of the Moree Plains. It will take time to build everything. Council will deliver it in stages, step by step.

In Stage 1, Council will start building the aquatic centre. This work will see the final design and construction of the heated 50m 8-lane lap pool, a café and seating area, administration and maintenance areas, grass mound and grassy recreation area, a service court with access lane off Endeavour Lane and a new 20 space carpark off 'No Name' Lane.

State and Federal Government funding has been secured to support Council’s delivery of Stage 1, providing about 67% of the funds needed.

This funding has a tight time limit, so it will be important to get to work quickly on the aquatic centre. Once a final design is agreed, it’s expected that work on building the first parts of the aquatic centre will start in 2027.
