Welcome!

The following is a request to hear IDEAS from the Boston community regarding what HOUSING policies and systems should be changed and how. The ideas collected will help to focus a future funding opportunity being developed by the Innovative Stable Housing Initiative (ISHI).

Stable housing is an essential component of good health because when individuals and families live in a safe, affordable home and community, they can better manage disease and invest in their personal health and well-being. Housing instability is associated with poor health, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, asthma, obesity as well as increased anxiety, depression and psychological distress.

This Inquiry for IDEAS opportunity is the first step in designing a grantmaking process that is responsive to the needs of the community, rather than employing the traditional process of soliciting competitive proposal submissions. The IDEAS submitted will inform the release of a funding opportunity that is focused on UPSTREAM issues to create solutions or correct the present housing crisis the city faces. ISHI funding opportunities are designed to support populations at risk of losing housing or those who seek safe and healthy housing.
