Committee Information

Registrants who value safe and ethical practice may consider volunteering for the Hearing Tribunal and Complaint Review Committee. Panel members support public protection from unethical, unsafe, or unskilled care.
HEARING TRIBUNAL AND COMPLAINT REVIEW COMMITTEE QUALIFICATIONS & EXPECTATIONS:

Members of the Hearing Tribunal are the decision-makers at the disciplinary hearings of investigated complaints made against HCAs. They may also be called upon to participate in the Complaint Review Committee.

Qualifications:
  • a minimum of seven (7) years of practice
  • registered as an HCA and in good standing with the CLHA
  • effective verbal and written communication skills
  • critical thinking and sound clinical judgement skills
Expectations: When a need arises, members are contacted regarding their availability. Hearings can last from a half day to three or more consecutive full days. Hearings and Complaint Review Committees are predominantly conducted via Zoom.

The CLHA provides orientation and training for all members.
Panel members are provided with an honorarium for time spent on the Committee.
