Description: What does a classroom look like when powerful mathematics is happening? What is the teacher doing? NCTM's Principles to Actions describes eight effective teaching practices. In this session, groups will explore the effective mathematical teaching practices and develop a continuum of "look-fors" when coaching and supporting teachers. For example, we will look at a task and consider how to adapt it to further engage students in rich problem solving.

Presenters: Jessica Breur, Middle School Math Instructional Coach, Mounds View Public Schools, and Courtney LaRoche, K-12 Math Resource Teacher, Wayzata Public Schools

MN Math Leaders Networking sessions are sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE) and MN Math Leaders, a committee of the Minnesota Council of Teachers of Mathematics (MCTM). All sessions are from 8:30-11:30 a.m. at MDE in Conference Center B. Target Audience: Administrators and teacher leaders who are passionate about leading change in mathematics education for all students. The networking meetings are open to anyone who is in a department or team, school, or district leadership position and are designed for leaders to give and receive support.
