UIF 2021 Application - Rowan University Innovation Fellows Leadership Circle 4
Welcome to the world of University Innovation Fellows!
Rowan rising sophomores and juniors! Rowan University is seeking candidates to form its fourth UIF leadership circle (UIF-4). This is your opportunity to join an exclusive and select group of students from around the globe, and to establish a significant accomplishment in your life and career. "Once a Fellow, always a Fellow" is the mantra you could achieve, and you will wear this badge with honor and pride. So go for it!
First, check out the UIF web site! (https://universityinnovationfellows.org/) The University Innovation Fellows program is an international organization focused on driving positive change on university campuses. At Rowan University, our first two Fellows Leadership Circles helped establish Studio 231, and delivered more than two dozen Design Thinking workshops. See a video featuring Fellows from our first two leadership circles at https://youtu.be/olWLqDOXcoY.
To be considered as a UIF candidate, you should be a rising sophomore or junior (or, you should not be graduating in May 2022). The application due date is midnight Monday, May 3. You will hear back no later than Thursday, May 6, and then you will complete an additional application directly to the UIF program. We are seeking a maximum of four Fellows, and are also seeking diversity of colleges from within Rowan, so this will be a competitive opportunity!
If you are accepted by both Rowan and UIF, during September-November 2021, you will complete 6 weeks of online training from Stanford University to identify and solve problems on campus. This will demand from 2-10 hours per week of your time, so don't consider this unless you are ready to commit! Then, during December 2021 - March 2022, UIF-4 will undertake a meaningful project on campus (we are currently thinking about addressing housing insecurity, see https://docs.google.com/document/d/1NoEcNRBQEHed0cEbjv7Iv6sO-dnJWCH_Pnjna6w8xCU). You are expected to lead a project that has impact on our Rowan community. Your faculty Champion, Dr. Michael Dominik, will guide you during this process. If funding is approved, your UIF-4 team may have the opportunity to travel to the UIF meetup event, location TBD (it has been in Silicon Valley in the past).
So, if you're ready to tackle a daunting challenge, to change and improve Rowan University, and to transform and change yourself, then go for it and apply!
