Marijuana Business Daily (MJBizDaily), since 2011 the best-known producer of B2B news and trade shows serving executives and major investors in America's $8 billion cannabis industry, is seeking a data and research analyst to crunch numbers, create charts, analyze trends and write reports about the marijuana sector.

Required skills:
  • Proficiency in Excel, able to quickly clean and manipulate data to perform analysis and create charts
  • Experience creating online surveys to elicit useful data
  • Ability to create reports (50+ pages) swiftly from a variety of data sources
  • Experience writing business information in an understandable voice/tone for the typical entrepreneur and high-level investor
  • Knack for digging up data from a wide variety of sources, not all of them online
  • Comfortable reviewing dense government regulations and business financials
  • Ability to quickly fact-check legal, regulatory and financial information
  • Comfortable making evidence-based decisions in an environment with little information
Your responsibilities will include:
  • Serving as a researcher and writer of our business and financial reports using stats, data and regulatory information gathered from a wide variety of sources, including our own B2B surveys, government data and company financials.
  • Researching and writing 'Chart of the Week' - a weekly feature on our website that includes an original chart you would produce based on either our own or 3rd party data of interest to our readers.
  • Providing several pages of researched financial and business stats for each issue of our monthly print publication Marijuana Business Magazine
  • Serving as "factoid" editor and creating charts to assist our reporting staff
  • Responding to external media requests for industry facts and information
  • Speaking at or moderating panels at occasional business conferences
