You may request a smoke alarm if you meet the following conditions:

  • You are an Alabama resident, the property is located in Alabama, and you are the property owner.
  • You do not already have working smoke alarms in the home OR the smoke alarms in the home are more than 10 years old.
  • The home is not new construction (new residential construction is ineligible for the program).
 
*This program is intended to primarily assist the elderly and those that are unable to purchase a smoke alarm.

*Smoke alarms are not guaranteed. Your local fire department must be a participant in the program.

*This is a smoke alarm installation program only. Alarms will not be shipped. A local fire department will install the alarms in the residence once the request is processed.

*All requests will be processed within 6-8 weeks.
