Purpose of the Study

The purpose of the research project is to determine the level of engagement local, Tribal and State emergency managers have with their community’s museums.  Museums are defined by the International Council of Museums as non-profit permanent institutions that are open to the public.  These institutions acquire, conserve, research, communicate and exhibit artifacts for the purposes of study, education and enjoyment.  Examples of museums can be natural or history museums, art museums, special collections, historical societies or archives.

Survey Structure

This survey will ask the follow core questions:

·         Geographic location, population and emergency management program

·         Hazard Vulnerability and History

·         Types of museums in your community

·         Level and complexity of emergency management programs

Length of Survey

The survey should take about 6 minutes to complete.
