Practice Standards for Cerumen Management |
This is your opportunity to have your say regarding this important set of practice standards for cerumen management.
The Audiology Practice Advisory Committee's (AUD-PAC) goal in revising the PPG was to develop standards and competencies for cerumen management that align with the current practice environment.
The most significant changes are the following:
· The definition of cerumen management has been broadened to include the removal of all materials from the ear e.g., removal of hearing aid domes, ear impression material, or cotton swabs from the ear, as well as ear wax.
· Members do not need to be competent in all cerumen management procedures, but they must be competent in the procedures they employ or make a referral.
