The following survey is part of a research project to learn about people’s experiences being part of a couple where the partners are from two different countries. The survey results will be included in a resource book for people in cross-cultural relationships, with a goal of helping people in cross-national relationships have happier, more successful relationships. You can take this survey if you are currently in a relationship with someone from a country other than your own. If you have been in a relationship like this in the past that is now over, please take our other survey at We will ask questions about your relationship, cultural differences and adaptation, and the influences of others on your relationship.

This survey is anonymous and completely voluntary. With the exception of a few required demographic questions, if you come to any question you don’t want to answer, you may skip to the next question. You may discontinue participation at any time during the survey. All information will be anonymous in any publications or presentations in order to preserve your right to privacy. By taking this survey, you are giving your voluntary consent for us to use your information in Love Has No Borders: Navigating Your Cross-Cultural Relationship©.

You may pause the survey at the end of any survey page and your answers will be saved. You can resume the survey where you left off, as long as you re-open the survey on the same device (computer, pad, phone). Only one survey may be submitted from any device.

At the end of the survey, you will be connected our Love Has No Borders website where you have the option to be entered in a drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card and/or request notification when the book is published. To do so, you will need to provide your email address. It will not be connected in any way with your survey.

This research does not involve risks beyond those encountered in daily life. Some people could find it upsetting to think about any unpleasant aspects of their relationships. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us at

Thank you for your participation.
