Outreach: being visible within the community at local events and engagements outside of the museum building

Educational programming: offering onsite and offsite learning experiences for children and adults (lecture series, special presentations, walking tours, half-day programs for school-aged children, etc.)

Conservation: the active protection of collections through the use of physical and chemical treatments to prevent further deterioration while retaining original integrity

Preservation: the passive protection of collections through policy making, the maintenance of environmental and storage conditions, storage and exhibit supports, proper handling, etc.

Research: conducting internal studies on artifact histories, exhibitions, and the completion of information requests received from local and visiting researchers

Archival Acquisition: the acceptance into the permanent collection of paper ephemera, photographs, and other media materials that meet the collecting mandate

Object Acquisition: the acceptance into the permanent collection of three-dimensional objects that meet the collecting mandate

Innovation: Developing new and inspired ways of accomplishing objectives and goals for the museum

Publication: the sharing of research and collections with members of the general public and museum membership through various outlets (newspapers, online sources, newsletters, social media, etc.)

Exhibition: theme and subject-based displays covering various perspectives and concerns relevant to the local community

Loans: knowledge and object-sharing between institutions and community members for exhibition and/or research
