Navigation of NICS Resources on LEEP

Register, Join, and Learn!

The National Instant Criminal Background Check (NICS) External Training Instructors are offering a session for the NICS user community to assist in the navigation of the NICS Resources. This session is available for anyone who conducts firearm purchases, firearm related permits and/or the return of confiscated/stolen firearm checks.

This session will illustrate how attendees can obtain a LEEP account and provide assistance with the navigation to the NICS Community. In this session, instructors will also demonstrate where the user will locate and access the resources available to assist with the research and analyzation of the results of the firearm or firearm-related background check.

Registering prior to class allows us to determine the number of attendees and assists us in gathering the needed information to provide post-training credit/certificates.

It would be beneficial for you to have LEEP access prior to class, but it is not required.

You may apply for access at www.cjis.gov or reach out to your Identity Service Provider (IdP).

IdP states are AZ, KS, MI, MN, MO, NY, OR, PA, SC, and TX. If you are one of these states, you will contact your state directly for access.

Please reach out to NICStraining@fbi.gov if you have any questions.
