AAKP Petition - Living Donor Protection Act (S.1552)

The bipartisan Living Donor Protection Act (LDPA), S. 1552, which stops job and insurance discrimination against living organ donors, could be passed by Congress this year.

13 innocent people die every day waiting for an organ. You can help reduce suffering and save more lives by raising your voice in support of the LDPA and living organ donors.

In February 2026, the U.S. Senate HELP Committee voted favorably on the LDPA, with strong bipartisan support, including support from U.S. Senator Patty Murray (WA).

The LDPA makes permanent current job protections for living organ donors under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA).

The LDPA bans insurance companies from discriminating against donors solely because they donate an organ.

These are the top 2 reasons living donors choose not to donate a kidney - based on the insights of living donors. Heroic organ donors should not have their jobs or insurance at risk to save another human life.

Congress can pass the bipartisan Living Donor Protection Act in 2026 - if Senator Patty Murray (WA) chooses to help advance the bill.

Add your name to those of people of goodwill in Washington State and nationwide - including kidney patients, living organ donors, families, and medical professionals - urging Senator Murray to help pass the LDPA before the end of 2026!
