Conference Scholarship Application

Les Dames d'Escoffier Philadelphia Conference Assistance Scholarships are available to Philadelphia area women in the food trades who wish to attend a food or farming related conference to acquire additional skills, present scholarship, network, and advance in her field. LDEI Philadelphia awards one Conference Assistance Scholarship of $1000 annually to a single individual to enable travel, registration, accommodations, and meals while attending a conference.
Female applicants wishing to attend conferences for farmers, food professionals, food scholars and related fields will be considered for this grant. Conferences must have sessions that encourage learning; travel to trade shows and other commercial venues will not be funded. Appropriate conferences include (but are not limited to) those supported by organizations such as:
IACP (International Association of Culinary Professionals)
ASFS (Association for the Study of Food and Society)
SNEB (Society for Nutrition Education and Behavior)
ADA (American Dietetic Association)
PASA (Pennsylvania Association for Sustainable Agriculture)
Future Harvest/CASA (Chesapeake Alliance for Sustainable Agriculture)
NOFA (Northeast Organic Farming Association)
To be eligible for LDEI’s Conference Assistance Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Be active in the field represented by the organization sponsoring the conference; applicants must already be committed to the field, as a beginning farmer, food business owner, graduate student, or intern in a food-related field.
- Have a clear notion of why she wishes to attend the conference and what she wants to learn while there, including an explanation of how doing so will benefit her professional goals.
- Submit the completed application form by June 1st
- Two references must submit recommendation forms.
- Provide receipts for all moneys spent.
- Provide either a written overview or a verbal presentation of what was learned at the conference and how it will be put to use within her professional life.
