Dear Resident / Fellow, Rotation evaluations are a critically important way for you to provide feedback to supervisors, sites, your program director and PGME about your experiences. As a postgraduate trainee who engaged in a global health elective in the past 12 months, we are asking you to complete this post-elective evaluation with the goal of helping all parties involved better understand the educational value of your global health elective and potentially optimize the experience for future residents. The evaluation may also be used, anonymously, to help other residents considering a global health elective – in choosing a site or supervisor, in better preparing for the elective or just being more informed about the experience. This survey will ask you to evaluate various elements of your global health elective/experience including the site facilities, your experience and role, the quality of your teacher/supervisor, and the educational value of this global health elective. We will also be asking about PGME support of your Global Health elective from the application process to your post-travel debriefing. Please keep in mind that honest, constructive, professional information about the rotation at each site is an important professional obligation of learners. This Global Health Electives Evaluation is based on the “Best Practices in Rotation Evaluation” document but has been significantly modified to streamline the evaluation and better meet the needs of the Global Health electives. How we will use the information:
- Serious issues you raise may be flagged for prompt response by the program or PGME.
- Teaching sites and/or rotation/site co-ordinators will receive aggregate summaries of feedback, including comments. Aggregate summaries are anonymized (i.e. not linked to an individual)
- The aggregate data is used by the PGME/Department/Division to evaluate the rotations and sites on a regular basis.
- This survey will ask you to evaluate various elements of your global health elective/experience including the site facilities, your experience and role, the quality of your teacher/supervisor, and the educational value of this global health elective.
- We will also be asking about PGME support of your Global Health elective from the application process to your post-travel debriefing
