Scholars Forward Foundation was founded and established in 2023 by a first-generation Latina who successfully navigated the financial barriers associated with low-income families aspiring to pursue higher education. This experience led to creating an organization to help decrease the financial burden for students living in underserved communities as we strive to provide (5) scholarships ranging from $500-$1,000 to those demonstrating a financial need. As you transition out of high school, we hope you have taken the time to applaud your bravery and acknowledge all your accomplishments as you take this profound step towards YOUR future. All scholarship recipients will be recognized at a distinguished awards ceremony to honor this significant milestone as a future scholar. Eligibility criteria:

1. Applicants must be enrolled at one of the following schools in San Diego, CA: Crawford High School, Hoover High School, Sweetwater High School, Helix High School, or Lincoln High School.

2. Cumulative G.P.A. 2.0 - 2.9.

3. Applicants must provide an acceptance letter from any college or trade school, or other documentation showing plans to enroll. If applicable, include an explanation for any delayed enrollment (e.g., “I plan to enroll by June 20th after graduating high school because the school does not allow early enrollment”).

4. Any accredited college, university, or trade school is eligible, including community colleges, universities, nursing programs, and mechanic training programs.

Application instructions:

1. Complete the application.

2. Answer each question with a minimum of 250 words and a maximum of 500 words. The entire essay should be typed, single-spaced, using a 12-point font. Tip: Consider typing your responses in Microsoft Word first to ensure you stay within the 500-word limit before transferring them to the application. Check your grammar.

3. Provide supporting document of cumulative GPA, a copy is acceptable.

4. One letter of recommendation by any school staff member or other professionals.

5. Attach your acceptance letter or intent to enroll, essay, letter of recommendation, and proof of GPA. Alternatively, you can email these documents to scholarsforward@yahoo.com with the subject line "Scholarship 2025."

6. If you need assistance, feel free to reach out to your school counselor for guidance. However, please ensure that the essay is your own work.

Award distribution:

1. 50% will be distributed to the school/institution (tuition, books, bookstore account, other fees or expenses required by the school).

2. 50% will be distributed to the student after submitting a progress report after 4 months from the 1st day of school.
