Bike and More Sustainable Transportation Month 2023

Pledge to bike, carpool, take public transit, or use more sustainable methods to get to work

May is National Bike Month by the League of American Bicyclists. We understand that biking to work is not feasible for everyone. So, we're also recognizing May as Alternative and More Sustainable Transportation Month.

Did you know that transportation accounts for 27% of our nationwide greenhouse gas emissions? In Coconino County, most people drive alone to work and the average commute time is 17.6 minutes. If feasible, try biking to work. Not only is it a great workout, but with rising gas prices, your pocketbook will thank you! Or, if you have colleagues that live nearby, try carpooling to work. It's a great way to get to know your co-workers and will likewise save you money on gas.

Did you know that as a County employee, you receive a free eco-pass through Mountain Line? Try taking public transit to work. While you're waiting at the bus stop, listen to an audio book or catch up with a friend on the phone.
