OAC EDUCATION SURVEY

Thank you for agreeing to take part in this important education survey created by the Ontario Autism Coalition. The information you share with us will assist in our advocacy work with the Ministry of Education and the provincial government as we fight for better supports and services in schools for children with special needs in Ontario.

Your privacy is of paramount importance to us. To that end, please do not use your child’s name, the name of their school or the names of any teachers or school staff in your responses. Do your best to answer the questions without disclosing any identifying information.

A quick word about terminology: there are three different terms used for the workers who support teachers in the classroom. Most school boards use the term Educational Assistant, or EA. However, other boards use the term Educational Resource Worker (ERW) or Teaching Assistant (TA.) For the purposes of this survey, we will be referring to any of the above titles when we use the term EA.

Sections One, Two and Three are to be completed by any and all parents of exceptional students. Sections Four, Five and Six are specific to parents of children with autism spectrum disorder.

We would greatly appreciate it if you can encourage as many of your friends to complete it as possible so that we can collect a statistically significant sample size. (Whew! Try saying THAT 10 times fast!) The survey is quite comprehensive, so we sincerely thank you in advance for taking the time to complete it.
