IELTS Academic
Take this test if you want to:
- study at an undergraduate level or postgraduate level anywhere in the world
- apply for Student Route visa (Tier 4) at a university that is a Student route (Tier 4) Sponsor in the UK
-work in an English-speaking country for a professional organisation.

IELTS General Training
Take this test if you would like to:
- apply for residency in Denmark or family reunification and need a result at B1-level
- study or train below degree level
- work or undertake work related training in an English-speaking country
- emigrate to an English-speaking country

IELTS for UKVI ("SELT" test) Not all UK universities require this!
If you want to support a UK visa application to work or live in the UK, you may need to take the IELTS for UKVI (UK Visas and Immigration) Academic or General Training test. Some universities may also require it.

"B1" test valid for immigration to Denmark (or family reunification - familiesammenføring)
Take the IELTS test - a score of roughly 4-5.5 will translate to B1 level and this will be printed on your test report. Please check with the immigration authorities if you are in doubt about General Training or Academic.

IELTS Life Skills - Only if you want to support a UK visa application to work or live in the UK, you may need to take the IELTS Life Skills test. It should be available again in Denmark later this year, on 2 levels. Note this is not the right test for residency or family reunification in Denmark.

All tests are taken in person at the test centre and both formats are identical and equally valid. The Speaking test is the same, a one-to-one conversation with an examiner. For a description of the formats please check here
