Building Community Resilience

Following the 2019/20 bushfire and 2021 flood events, Council has appointed a Community Resilience Officer to help communities to plan and  prepare for, respond to, and recover from future disasters. The role of the Community Resilience Officer is to work in partnership with village communities across the LGA to develop Community Resilience Plans and then work with communities to help implement the plans. The aim of the plans is to enhance resilience by empowering communities to improve their own well-being and safety to cope better in the face of disaster.

Climate change predictions indicate that disasters such as bushfire, floods and cyclones will become more frequent with increasing severity into the future.

So get involved and help to improve your own resilience and that of your community.
