The SHRM-Wyoming State Council established the annual Kate Selby Memorial Scholarship to help a public sector employee pay for an annual national SHRM membership. The origin of this scholarship is named for Kate Selby, who passed away in 2016. Kate was dedicated to her volunteer roles with SHRM and to the human resources profession, ensuring diversity in employment while serving as a Grievance and Appeals Coordinator for the State of Wyoming, Human Resources Division. This Scholarship is awarded without regard to race, color, creed, religion, sex, sexual orientation, disability, or national origin.
The Scholarship is designed to recognize a public sector employee who is unable to pay for an annual Society of Human Resource Management (SHRM) membership. The Scholarship is valued at the current cost of a national SHRM membership given to one (1) individual per year.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
a. be working in the human resources field,
b. be working for a governmental entity,
c. demonstrated leadership skills and/or ongoing contributions to the HR
profession
Application Guidelines: Scholarship entries will be reviewed and judged by the Wyoming State Council based on the qualifications listed above. Each entry shall consist of a cover letter detailing qualifications, resume, and a letter of recommendation from an employer or colleague.
