Sand Program Information 2019

Chico Matrix is excited to launch a sand program this year.  Our Program Director and Head Coach will be Johnny Kessenich. We are privileged to be able to offer some lucky players the opportunity to be coached by Johnny. His Bio below speaks for itself.

Johnny Kessenich has been around beach volleyball his entire life. He played his first beach tournament at the age of 9 and has been playing every summer since then. Kessenich soon moved to playing on the Midwest Professional Volleyball Association (MPVA) at age 14, one of the youngest players to ever do so. In 2006, he played his first AVP qualifier, eventually qualifying in 2009 at the age of 21, one of the youngest players ever to qualify. In 2014, Kessenich traveled to New Zealand to play on the New Zealand Professional tour, which he ranked within the top 10 in 2014/15 and 2015/16. While in New Zealand he coached four different teams in the New Zealand National Beach Championships, winning a Gold, 2 Silvers and a Bronze. In 2016 and 2017 he was the beach coach for AVP team Buehring/McCarthy at various events throughout their season.
