Volleyball Ballarat Spring Pre-Season survey Question Title * 1. Volleyball Ballarat is considering changes to the competition structure for our 2021 Spring Season (July-December). Please indicate your preference for the following by selecting your most preferred option: A 2 tiered Compeition with a separate "A/Competitive" Grade and "B/Social" Grade where you only play the teams in your Grade (may mean you play the same teams 3 or 4 times during the season depending on entries) A weighted 2 Tiered competition where "A/Competitive" Grade teams play each other twice and "B/Social" Grade teams once (and vice versa) so every team plays each other at least once but most games are against teams of a similar standard Single Social competition where all teams play each other an equal number of times if possible. Question Title * 2. If we have a separate 2 tiered competition, please indicate your preferred way of entering: Teams choose competition level and enter with own players Players enter individually to preferred competition level and are allocated to teams (subject to numbers) Option of both - Teams and individuals can enter a preferred competition level Question Title * 3. Please indicate your preferred option for duty (refereeing) next season. Please note any move towards paid referees would require an increase in game fees of $3-$4 per person per game) Current arrangement where teams referee 2 games in a timeslot once every 4-5 weeks (Minimum 4 team members required) Paid Referee and Scorer to be allocated to each match (where available) - no duty members required Teams provide a scorer only when rostered for duty and a referee is paid to umpire each game (referees would be required to complete training to be eligible to be paid. Question Title * 5. Would you be in favour of creating a Club structure, initially with a set number of Clubs (TBC). Current teams would be aligned to a Club with the aim to have a team in each Grade / Division if a two tiered competition was implemented. This structure would allow us to better cope with new players or teams wanting to join the competition and enable access to significant funding opportunities, particularly around uniforms and equipment.
