Introduction

Meegwetch for taking the time to complete this Socio-Economic Survey for the Webequie Supply Road (WSR) Project (hereafter called ‘the Project’). The proposed Project represents a new all-season road of about 107 km in length from the Webequie First Nation to the mineral deposit area near McFaulds Lake (also referred to as the Ring of Fire) in Far North Ontario.  Your input is very important to the Project, whether you’re on-reserve or off-reserve.

The purpose of this survey is to capture the full picture of the current social and economic conditions of neighbouring Indigenous communities. Your input is extremely valuable and helpful to us as we want to ensure that the Project includes input from Indigenous Communities as part of the Socio-Economic Impact Assessment.

For the environmental assessment we will study the potential changes (positive and negative) on social and economic conditions of Webequie First Nation and neighbouring Indigenous communities due to the Webequie Supply Road.

Your answers will be kept confidential and anonymous and will be only be used for the purposes of the Project. This means that no one will be able to identify your individual answers as the data from all community member responses will be combined, analysed, and presented together.

Your answers will not be judged and we respect any information you can provide.  You may choose which questions to answer or not to answer– you are not obligated to answer all of the questions.  In addition, you can choose to withdraw your responses at any time. This survey should take approximately 25 minutes to complete.
