INTRODUCTION -- WHY THIS SURVEY?

The Kerr-Tar Regional Planning Organization (KTRPO) is responsible for helping the Kerr-Tar region plan for its transportation needs. This often requires looking at land use, community and site design, natural and historic resources and human needs. Since development follows transportation, our work frequently has a significant impact on economic development as well.

The way in which our communities and counties grow is also impacted by the transportation decisions we make. This resulting "pattern of development" impacts where infrastructure investments are located and when they are made, from water and sewer to telecommunications, schools and public safety and recreational facilties.

These decisions also impact the work undertaken every few years by the Kerr-Tar region's transportation planning office to submit projects to the state for consideration for funding transportation projects. Not enough money is available to fill all the transportation needs in the state so this process is very competitive.

Perhaps there are projects that can be built that might reduce the need for other projects and projects that could extend the life of an existing road and save money?

Perhaps you have a vision for the future of the Kerr-Tar region and imagine a way that the transportation system can be used to realize that future?

Planning for the future of our Region is complex but it starts with your vision of the future.

The following 25 questions will help as we work to build the best future for all.

Thank you in advance for your time and thoughtfulness!
