The Southwest Alaska Municipal Conference (SWAMC) seeks interested and qualified individuals to serve on the board of the Southwest Alaska Regional Planning Organization (RPO). In partnership with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA), SWAMC is working to formalize recognition as the RPO for the region.

SWAMC works to strengthen regional collaboration, planning, and economic development across Southwest Alaska. We have been engaged in regional transportation planning, advocacy, and project development for nearly 40 years. In March, the SWAMC membership passed Resolution 2026-03-xx seeking recognition for the organization as the region's RPO.Read the full text here.

About the RPO Board

A key component of the RPO is a governing board that provides policy direction and serves in an advisory role for the RPO’s activities, priorities, and long-term goals.

SWAMC is seeking individuals to be considered for service on the RPO Board. Initial board members will serve staggered terms of approximately 1–3 years and will be expected to participate in, at minimum, quarterly meetings (generally held virtually).

You can read more about the RPO Program on the DOT&PF web page.
