Introduction
Thank you for your interest in applying to join Feed Nova Scotia’s First Voice Advisory.
The First Voice Advisory Committee (FVAC) is a diverse group of individuals from across the province who have previous or ongoing lived experience with food insecurity. Members provide feedback on various aspects of our work at Feed Nova Scotia, drawing on their lived experience as community experts who understand what works best for their communities.
Established in 2022, FVAC members serve at most three-year term. The group meets virtually once every two months on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and members receive an honorarium for their participation.
We are currently seeking to recruit new members from across the province. While we welcome anyone to apply, to address current gaps in the group’s composition, we will be prioritizing applications from individuals who identify as African Nova Scotians, Black, Indigenous, youth, immigrant, 2SLGBTQIA+ and seniors.
Applications will also be selected based on geographic area, to ensure communities across the province are represented.
To ensure the group is as diverse and representative as possible of people in Nova Scotia who are living with food insecurity, the application form includes a few personal questions. There are no right or wrong answers — our goal is to bring together people with a range of experiences, identities, and perspectives to share.
Required answers are marked with a *. You can skip any optional questions that you don’t want to answer.
If you are nominating an individual from the community, we ask that you discuss and review the application form with the individual before submitting on their behalf. Personal information should not be provided without the knowledge and consent of the individual being nominated.
