Building Bridges: Cultivating Cultural Intelligence Webinar Series
Feedback

How promoting and applying Cultural Intelligence can enhance your organisation’s ability to provide culturally appropriate care?

The new series of webinars developed by the Partners in Culturally Appropriate Care (PICAC) SA discuss the Building Bridges: Cultivating Cultural Intelligence - Strategies to support inclusive care for older people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CALD) backgrounds linking theory and case examples to processes of cross-cultural communication.

We anticipate the discussed content will support the participants in developing effective strategies to manage cultural challenges, navigate language barriers, and foster culturally sensitive professional behaviour. Join us to build bridges and achieve better outcomes in a diverse workplace.

The webinars have been developed and are hosted by Multicultural Aged Care team.

Methodology is a combination of:
  • cultural safety principles
  • cultural intelligence (CQ) theory and MAC 4 As Model
  • cultural competence – from knowledge to skills, and towards strategies
  • hands-on examples, scenarios and activities
  • a range of recommended resources available at the MAC Library to further inform your practice

Anticipated learning outcomes:
  • Increase organisational and workforce capacity in managing a culturally diverse workplace.
  • Assist organisations and staff in developing effective strategies to demonstrate culturally appropriate professional behaviour and achieve goals effectively.
  • Identify cultural challenges and barriers, and understand the key components of a successful assessment and care planning process.
  • Develop effective strategies to manage and reconcile cultural dilemmas and values within a culturally diverse workplace.
  • Learn techniques to navigate language barriers and complexities when working with culturally diverse clients, improving communication and collaboration.
  • Promote the building of bridges and goodwill by enhancing culturally appropriate professional behaviour.

Unpacking various interaction points among stakeholders - one by one, within a policy and regulatory framework and culturally appropriate care provision context, co-design approach, seeking feedback and implementing continuous improvement – we aim to identify opportunities to practice effective cross-cultural communication.

The webinars have been developed and are hosted by MAC team. MAC Librarian, Nellida Rasgido may assist you to search for and obtain resources enhancing culturally appropriate service and care provision. Our training team is awaiting your call to discuss further training options.
