Neuroenhancement with Noninvasive Brain Stimulation Question Title * 1. This survey is associated with the seminar "Hacking the Brain: Neuroenhancement with Noninvasive Brain Stimulation", organized by Harvard Medical School's Center for Bioethics. This is a short survey (should take about 5 minutes) designed to assess attitudes about noninvasive brain stimulation. These questions focus on the use of transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS). tDCS is a form of noninvasive brain stimulation in which a weak electrical current is passed between electrodes placed on the scalp. This current is thought to transiently alter the activity of the underlying brain, and some evidence suggests that these alterations can improve cognitive functions such as attention. tDCS is thought to be safe when applied in the correct way, and with appropriate levels of current. You will be presented with several brief scenarios involving the use of tDCS, and will be asked to rate your opinions on each. Your responses are completely confidential. The group responses will be reviewed at the upcoming seminar. If you have any questions, please email "Hacking.the.brain.neuroethics@gmail.com"Have you used tDCS? Check all that apply. I have used/currently use tDCS in the setting of a research study. I have used/currently use tDCS as a treatment for a disorder/illness. I have used/currently use tDCS for personal cognitive enhancement. I have used/currently use tDCS for personal mood enhancement. I have used/currently use tDCS for personal motor enhancement. I have never used tDCS, but would be interested in trying it. I have never used tDCS, and am not interested in trying it. I have never used tDCS, and would need to learn more about it before wanting to try it. Question Title * 2. If you have used tDCS, please identify how you acquired the device. Check all that apply. Not applicable -- I have never used tDCS From a physician or healthcare worker. From a research study. From a friend. Bought or loaned from a company. Bought from someone who personally built the device. Built it yourself. Next
