Linking projects, Initiatives and People to Policy Needs and Knowledge Gaps

Thank you for contributing to this initiative, which aims to support policy makers in implementing the Nature Restoration Regulation, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), and the Habitats Directive, the EU 20230 Biodiversity Strategy, the BBNJ Agreement and the KMGBF by providing direct links between project outcomes and policy needs & knowledge gaps.

This is a joint initiative by the Knowledge Exchange Network of Marine Biodiversity, the Executive Research Agency and DG RTD, DG ENV & DG MARE.

This questionnaire is thus designed to gather detailed information on how the funded scientific community is working in detail on filling existing knowledge gaps (identified for example by IPBES and the CBD) and how that work is directly linked to targets and indicators identified by Nature Restoration Regulation, the Marine Strategy Framework Directive (MSFD), and the Habitats Directive, the EU 2030 Biodiversity Strategy, the EU Oceans Pact the BBNJ Agreement and the KMGBF.

We acknowledge that this questionnaire is relatively extensive and requires some time commitment. However, the contribution of experts such as yourself is therefore crucial to ensure that the resulting roadmap guidance is robust and aligned with real-world implementation needs. The information you provide will directly contribute to the work of the European Commission and will help identify gaps and needs for protection and restoration of marine ecosystems.

We greatly appreciate your expertise and your time.
