Shaping the Next Evolution of Trusted LEI Data

As part of the evolution of the Global LEI System, we are exploring two potential new LEI data services designed to deliver greater value to data users and market participants: Continuous Validation of LEI reference data and Validate Now.

These initiatives aim to further enhance the timeliness, transparency, and reliability of LEI data through closer alignment with authoritative sources, such as business registries.

Continuous Validation would support more regular and systematic checks and updates of LEI reference data beyond the standard annual renewal cycle, helping ensure that LEI records remain current over time while reducing manual validation efforts.

Validate Now would provide an on-demand validation service that could be initiated by a third party or data user to confirm the freshness of a specific LEI record or identify potential discrepancies when immediate assurance is needed for onboarding, compliance, risk management, or other business processes.

Together, these initiatives represent a potential next step in the evolution of the Global LEI System toward a more dynamic, responsive, and trusted global data infrastructure. While both initiatives support the shared objective of maintaining accurate and up-to-date LEI records, they are intended to address different user needs through ongoing validation capabilities and targeted, point-in-time assurance.
