Introducing the Sustainable Tourism Partnership Programme

The Sustainable Tourism Partnership Programme (STPP) was established as a non-profit company to facilitate the implementation of Sustainable Tourism Practices in Smaller Accommodation Establishments across South Africa thus ensuring alignment to the National Minimum Standard of Responsible Tourism. The programme is set to contribute a significantly to the tourism industry becoming sustainable and to realize the requirements of the National Tourism Sector Strategy by 2020.

Membership to the STPP is free of charge.

The STPP offers various solutions to the day-to-day issues which an accommodation establishment may experience in the context of Responsible Tourism. The programme aims to address these issue collectively through negotiation of collaborative and beneficial relationships with product and service partners.

* 11. The STPP is reliant on local knowledge and local support from establishments, businesses and associations to make the programme successful and raise the bar for the tourism industry as a whole. Terms and Conditions
While every effort will be made by the programme to source funding to cover the costs of work shops and seminars, a small fee may be charged.
The programme may specify a minimum number of participants per intervention to ascertain the sustainability of its businesses.
Establishments must be a member of an association, e.g.the NAA-SA, SATSA, FEDHASA or their affiliated associations. All recognised associations are welcome to join the programme
Participation in more than one offering is optional.
A minimum of 36 months commitment to the programme is required in order to benefit from discounted and free offers.
Establishments are required to provide energy consumption, water consumption and bed nights every 3 months to the programme via sms or e-mail over the 36 months. All data will be treated as confidential - please refer to for relevant non-disclosure clauses.
Intermediate participation in on-line surveys is required on an ongoing basis over 36 months.
The above requirements will aid the programme in its efforts to support the Smaller Accommodation Establishment sector.
