Welcome to Defining Excellence in Philanthropy

Hello GWP members,

As you know, GWP was founded in 1985 to enable funders to learn and work together to help build a prosperous, vibrant region. Our mission is "to promote excellence in philanthropy."

A lot has changed in 30 years! So what does excellence in philanthropy look like today? For GWP's 30th anniversary, we are asking you to help redefine it. We want to know:
• How you define ‘excellence in philanthropy’ today, and
• What characterizes the unique culture of our region's funding community

Please note this survey is entirely anonymous. GWP does not seek any information that identifies you, your organization or your grantees.

GWP is sending a companion survey to nonprofits, and we will share aggregated responses with members at GWP's annual meeting and with nonprofits later this year. We hope that comparing the two sets of responses will give us some sense of what our community does well and what it might do even better. We plan to design some of GWP's 2016 programming based in part on what we learn.

Please also note:this is not intended to be a rigorous research exercise: we are asking for top-of-mind impressions. What we hope to elicit is a picture of our funding community’s culture - its shared values, beliefs and assumptions.

That said, we are also interested in outliers and exceptions to our shared culture.  Please feel free to share those in the comment boxes.

The response deadline is December 20.   Thank you for your participation: we are eager to hear from you!
