Why we are collecting your information
The Shire of Plantagenet is collecting information through this survey to understand community needs and to plan, improve, and evaluate waste management and sustainability services across the Shire. Your responses will help inform service delivery decisions for the 2026-27 financial year and beyond.
Legal authority for collection
This information is collected under the Local Government Act 1995 (WA) and the Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Act 2007 (WA), which authorise the Shire to provide and improve waste and sustainability services.
Participation is voluntary
Completing this survey is entirely voluntary. You are not required to answer every question and may stop at any time without consequence. If you choose not to provide the optional contact details, this will not affect any Shire services you receive.
Who will see your information
Survey responses will be accessed by authorised Shire staff and, where applicable, by consultants engaged by the Shire to assist with data analysis — all bound by confidentiality obligations. Results will be reported only in aggregated, de-identified form. Your individual responses will not be disclosed without your consent except where required by law.
How long we keep your information
Aggregated survey data will be retained in accordance with the Shire's obligations under the State Records Act 2000 (WA). Any optional contact details you provide will be held for 12 months after the close of this survey, then securely destroyed unless you have requested to remain on our sustainability mailing list.
Your rights — access and correction
You have the right to access personal information the Shire holds about you and to request corrections if it is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date. To make a request, please contact the Shire Office using the details below.

Competition Terms & Conditions
1. The competition is open to residents of the Shire of Plantagenet aged 18 years and over.
2. To enter, participants must complete and submit the Shire of Plantagenet Waste & Sustainability Survey 2026-27 and provide a valid name and email address or phone number in the contact details section of the survey.
3. The competition opens on 1 JUNE 2026 and closes at 5:00 PM AWST on 29 JUNE 2026 ("Closing Date"). Entries received after the Closing Date will not be eligible.
4. One (1) prize will be awarded: a $100 IGA Gift Card ("Prize"). The Prize is not transferable, not redeemable for cash, and cannot be exchanged for any other prize.
5. The winner will be selected by random draw conducted by an authorised Shire representative from all valid entries received by the Closing Date. The draw will take place on 2 JULY 2026 at the Shire of Plantagenet Administration Centre, 22-24 Lowood Road, Mount Barker WA 6324.
6. The winner will be notified by email (or phone if no email was provided) within five (5) business days of the draw. If the winner cannot be contacted within ten (10) business days, or is unable to accept the Prize, a redraw will be conducted.
7. The winner's first name and suburb may be published on the Shire's website and social media channels, unless the winner requests otherwise.
8. Employees of the Shire of Plantagenet and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
9. The Promoter collects entrant contact details for the sole purposes of administering this competition and, if you have opted in, sending sustainability updates. Contact details will not be used for any other purpose or disclosed to third parties without consent, except as required by law. Contact details of non-winning entrants will be destroyed within 12 months of the Closing Date. See the Privacy Collection Notice in this survey for full details.
10. This competition is not sponsored, endorsed, or administered by IGA or Metcash Trading Limited.
